  • Hygiene: each jar is opened by a single customer.
  • Presentation: a small labelled jar showcases a regional product on the table.
  • Less waste: an opened jar can be closed again and taken away.
  • Versatility: it also suits gourmet hampers, gift parcels and picnics.

Serving suggestions

Offer it with bread and crêpes at breakfast, or with a cheese board, following the tradition that pairs it with Herve cheese. In the kitchen, a few jars are enough to sweeten a sauce or a vinaigrette.

The transparent lid shows the dark brown colour of the syrup, so your customers can recognise the product at a glance.

Did you know?

In the region, people also speak of “sirop de Herve” or pear and apple syrup: it is the same speciality, born in the orchards of the Pays de Herve (Herve region). Each syrup maker keeps its own recipe, sweeter or richer to a greater or lesser degree. For inspiration in the kitchen, the syrup works offers on its website a recipe for boulets à la liégeoise with syrup (in French), along with ideas for desserts and accompaniments.

Siroperie Meurens, in Aubel since 1902

Clément Meurens founded his syrup works in 1902, near Aubel railway station, to stay close to the orchards of the Pays de Herve. Vrai Sirop de Liège, a trademark registered in 1947, became the company’s flagship product. The fruit is pressed, then the juices are concentrated before being put into jars.
