The Val-Dieu de Noël 33 cl format
Val-Dieu de Noël 33 cl is a single serving, served in a stemmed glass. Like all bottle-conditioned beers, store it upright, somewhere cool and away from light, and pour it gently, leaving the yeast sediment at the bottom if you prefer a clear beer.
How to serve Val-Dieu de Noël 33 cl?
Serve it between 8 and 12 °C, in a clean, dry glass rinsed with cold water. Tilt the glass at the start of pouring, then straighten it to form a fine head. Avoid greasy or poorly rinsed glasses, which stop the head from holding. Once opened, the bottle should be drunk straight away to keep all its bubbles.

What is a bottle-conditioned beer?
After the first fermentation in the tank, a small amount of yeast and sugar is added at bottling. A second fermentation then takes place in the bottle: it creates a natural sparkle and leaves a light yeast sediment at the bottom. The beer thus continues to develop over time.
The Brasserie de l’Abbaye du Val-Dieu
The Abbey of Val-Dieu was founded in 1216 by monks from Hocht, near Maastricht. It stands in Aubel, in the heart of the Pays de Herve (Herve region), in the province of Liège. Val-Dieu beers are brewed at the abbey itself, which makes them genuine Belgian abbey beers. They are bottle-conditioned, in warm rooms fitted with modern equipment since 2021.
On site, the abbey offers tours with a tasting of beers and abbey cheese. All the information is available on the official website of the Abbey of Val-Dieu (in French).
