Description

The Val-Dieu 33 cl x 4 gift box brings together four abbey beers from the Brasserie de l’Abbaye du Val-Dieu, in Aubel: the Blonde, the Brune, the Triple and the Grand Cru. A real discovery of the range, to enjoy yourself or to give.

Val-Dieu 33 cl x 4: the abbey’s four classics

Val-Dieu presents itself as the abbey beer par excellence: an authentic Belgian abbey beer, brewed using the old infusion method at the Abbey of Val-Dieu itself, and bottle-conditioned. The gift box contains four 33 cl bottles:

Val-Dieu Blonde – 6%

Belgian pale ale-style blonde beer, yellow and slightly hazy, with a long-lasting white head. Aromas: yeast, caramel, malt and spices. Serve between 8 and 10 °C.

Val-Dieu Brune – 8%

Dubbel-style dark beer, dark with ruby highlights. Aromas: powerful, with notes of coffee and mocha (chocolate-coffee). Serve between 8 and 12 °C.

Val-Dieu Triple – 9%

Triple-style blonde beer, clear blonde, slightly hazy, with a creamy white head. Aromas: malt, cereal and hops. Serve between 8 and 10 °C.

Val-Dieu Grand Cru – 10.5%

Strong quadrupel-style dark beer, dark brown with reddish highlights, with a dense and creamy beige head. Aromas: delicate notes of toasted malt, chocolate and port. Serve between 8 and 12 °C.

How to enjoy the Val-Dieu 33 cl x 4 gift box?

Start with the lightest, the Blonde, then move on to the Brune and the Triple, and finish with the Grand Cru, the most powerful. Serve each beer in a clean glass, leaving the yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle if you prefer a clear beer.

At what temperature?

According to the official product sheets, the Blonde and the Triple are served between 8 and 10 °C, the Brune and the Grand Cru between 8 and 12 °C. So take the strongest bottles out of the fridge a few minutes before serving, and keep the Blonde chilled until the last moment: their aromas of coffee, caramel and toasted malt will come through better.

Use a different glass for each beer, or rinse it with cold water between tastings so as not to mix the aromas.

Val-Dieu 33 cl x 4, a gift idea

For a birthday, Father’s Day or a thank-you, Val-Dieu 33 cl x 4 introduces four styles of Belgian abbey beer. For a larger assortment, see the crate of 24 Val-Dieu beers.

  • Val-Dieu Hop: hoppy blonde, 5.5%
  • Val-Dieu Blonde: fresh, light blonde, 6%
  • Val-Dieu de Noël: amber seasonal beer, 7%
  • Val-Dieu Brune: dubbel-style dark beer, 8%
  • Val-Dieu Triple: blonde triple, 9%
  • Val-Dieu Grand Cru: quadrupel, 10.5%

What is a bottle-conditioned beer?

After the first fermentation in the tank, a small amount of yeast and sugar is added at bottling. A second fermentation then takes place in the bottle: it creates a natural sparkle and leaves a light yeast sediment at the bottom. The beer thus continues to develop over time.

The Brasserie de l’Abbaye du Val-Dieu

The Abbey of Val-Dieu was founded in 1216 by monks from Hocht, near Maastricht. It stands in Aubel, in the heart of the Pays de Herve (Herve region). Val-Dieu beers are brewed there at the abbey itself and bottle-conditioned. More information on the official website of the Abbey of Val-Dieu (in French).
