The Val-Dieu Blonde 75 cl format

Val-Dieu Blonde 75 cl is one to share between two or three, at the table or as an aperitif, and it also makes a lovely bottle to give as a gift. Like all bottle-conditioned beers, store it upright, somewhere cool and away from light, and pour it gently, leaving the yeast sediment at the bottom if you prefer a clear beer.

For tasting on your own, choose the 33 cl bottle.

How to serve Val-Dieu Blonde 75 cl?

Serve it between 8 and 10 °C, in a clean, dry glass rinsed with cold water. Tilt the glass at the start of pouring, then straighten it to form a fine head. Avoid greasy or poorly rinsed glasses, which stop the head from holding. Once opened, the bottle should be drunk straight away to keep all its bubbles.

Our pairing suggestions for Val-Dieu Blonde 75 cl

What is a bottle-conditioned beer?

After the first fermentation in the tank, a small amount of yeast and sugar is added at bottling. A second fermentation then takes place in the bottle: it creates a natural sparkle and leaves a light yeast sediment at the bottom. The beer thus continues to develop over time.

The Brasserie de l’Abbaye du Val-Dieu

The Abbey of Val-Dieu was founded in 1216 by monks from Hocht, near Maastricht. It stands in Aubel, in the heart of the Pays de Herve (Herve region), in the province of Liège. Val-Dieu beers are brewed at the abbey itself, which makes them genuine Belgian abbey beers. They are bottle-conditioned, in warm rooms fitted with modern equipment since 2021.

On site, the abbey offers tours with a tasting of beers and abbey cheese. All the information is available on the official website of the Abbey of Val-Dieu (in French).
